minicabit launches free cabs for NHS workers across the country
minicabit, Britain’s largest cab comparison service, has joined forces with a leading livery charity (The Fishmongers’ Company’s Charitable Trust) to offer free cab rides across the country for NHS workers supporting the Coronavirus response.
The free cab service is available to NHS staff around the UK, travelling to and from hospitals in the smallest towns and the largest cities, and will make a real difference for workers coming off long or late shifts. The initiative will also enable frontline healthcare workers to avoid travelling on public transport, thus reducing the risk of infection. To register for a free cab, NHS workers can visit https://www.minicabit.com/nhs
The service is being funded by charitable donations- in just 24 hours over £100,000 of donations have come flooding in and minicabit are appealing for broader public support. Donations will be received by The Fishmongers’ Company’s Charitable Trust to cover the outgoings of any of the 800 Private Hire cab companies on minicabit’s network that are fulfilling these NHS staff trips. Speaking about the scheme, minicabit CEO Amer Hasan said:
“Our NHS heroes around the UK currently face enough challenges at the frontline, getting there shouldn’t be one of them.
“As a platform that services cab trips in over 550 UK towns & cities every month, we’re proud to be enabling free cab journeys to NHS frontline staff not just in a few big cities but UK wide via this charitable appeal.
“Donating what you saved in not having to commute to work last week means we could keep this scheme in place until we emerge from this pandemic.”
Andy Brittin, a senior NHS nurse from London, added:
“Any initiative that can help us do our jobs with less stress in these intense times is to be welcomed.
“It’s heartwarming to see the public get behind this initiative from minicabit and its cab firms – we are grateful for the support.”
