Ski Holiday Checklist – Top 5 essentials to pack for skiing or snowboarding
You’ve been counting down the days, checking the snow reports. Whether this is your first ski holiday or you are a seasoned skier, it is always an exciting time as it gets closer to your winter holiday fun.
With so much more to pack and remember than a summer holiday, it’s easy to forget something. Whether you take your own ski equipment or hire skis and gear when you arrive, it’s essential to get organised and make the most of your time on the slopes.
Before you head off, double check our ski holiday checklist and make sure you have everything sorted.
1. On Piste Ski Clothing – This list is extensive but for good reason and includes ski jackets, trousers (salopettes) or a ski suit along with thermals (both mid layer and underwear). Ski gloves and proper ski socks to avoid blisters and rubbing will make all the difference. A hat suitable for the job, along with goggles and sunglasses are also needed. Sun cream, lip balm and a bum bag to keep essentials together are a good idea too. Getting the clothing right will ensure you can enjoy the snow to the full.
2. Skiing/Snowboard Gear & Equipment – If you’re a beginner then it’s probably more cost effective to borrow from friends or hire your ski equipment at the resort. For those experienced skiers you will want to take your own ski equipment – skis, poles, snowboard and helmet, make sure your transport to and from airports will fit everything.
3. Après Ski – Along with your warm trousers and fleeces, you will also want to pack some casual evening clothes for après ski activities. Other handy items are a first aid kit with essentials such as plasters, antiseptic cream, arnica (for bruises) and paracetamol, which can be used for pain or morning after headaches! Also check if your resort has a swimming pool or hot tub so you can pack your swimming gear.
4. Book Travel to the Airport in advance – With so much luggage, clothing and ski gear it’s essential to make sure you actually make it to the airport. Avoid the hassle of getting everything squeezed in your car and book a cab to the airport. You can rest assured that all the extra gear and skis will fit in by using minicabit’s luggage selector. If travelling to or from London Heathrow airport, as minicabit is being offered by Heathrow you can also use their website to book your cab.
5. Travel Documents – Finally, in all the excitement don’t forget the most important items including your passport, COVID docs, tickets, currency, ski passes and insurance paperwork. Without these your holiday won’t get off the ground!
Wherever you are travelling for your winter fun, hopefully our Ski Holiday Checklist will ensure you have everything you need for a great skiing or snowboarding holiday.
